NCEA Level 1 Hospitality
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mrs N. Schaar.
Starting in 2025, we are now offering a 41-credit course over two years that enables students to gain the New Zealand-recognized NZ Certificate in Hospitality.
This certificate will provide students with a pre-employment qualification for those who are entering the hospitality industry in a range of basic positions, and a credential that will support their future employment opportunities to work, under supervision, across the different hospitality career pathways.
Students can enter this course at Level 1 with the aim that they have completed this certificate by the end of their Level 2 year.
This course is heavily practical, with hands-on cooking and service experiences. A basic ability to cook would be advantageous.
Alongside gaining their Certificate in Hospitality, interested students can work towards their barista qualifications and practice and improve their barista skills by joining the school Coffee Club.
