NCEA Level 2 Sculpture
Although next year's timetables have yet to be finalised, course selection has now finished. Please contact Ms Saunders if you wish to make changes to your 2025 selections.
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mrs C. Frost.
Students will develop and extend their practical and conceptual knowledge of sculptural 3-dimensional practices through the process of research, drawing, production of maquettes (models), and finished sculptural works. Which may include object-based, installation-based, and performance-based approaches. Students will be required to explore an individual programme of their choosing, with the aim of producing an external 3-panel folio of original related work.
Throughout the year students will be introduced to a number of different sculptural techniques such as mould making, casting, and other sculptural production modes. Students new to the subject will be taught the principles of sculpture and how to apply these to the production of original work.
Note: Students may take up to two of the NCEA Level 2 Visual Art courses offered: Design, Painting, Photography, Printmaking and Sculpture.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
Access to a computer and digital camera outside of school would be an advantage for all Visual Arts students but not essential. You will need to keep a visual diary or equivalent for your initial ideas and plans and be prepared to research, visit and explore areas of interest to focus your artwork on.
You will need an A3 Art Visual Diary or equivalent and presentation clear files to present your internal paperwork for assessment.
