Level 2 Design and Visual Communication (DVC) consists of two projects that relate to Product Design and Architecture. The Standards undertaken consist of 3 compulsory Achievement Standards (16 credits) and between one and three additional Achievement Standards that are negotiated between teacher and student. This allows students to undertake learning that reflects their personal interest and talents.
All students are encouraged to enter Level 3 Achievement Standards. This is done to assist students manage workload in Year 13 and scaffold learning for those wishing to enter Scholarship the following year as well as recognizing and students actual level of achievement.
At Level 2 the students are assessed against specialist Architectural and Product Design Achievement Standards that align with tertiary and vocational pathways. They are also able to convey their in-depth thinking and creative visually. Students with a good level of literacy are also advantaged. They will create and produce their own designs though freehand sketching, 3D printing and modelling, laser cutting, design notation instrumental drawing and a range of 3D CAD software.
This subject relates to a wide range of professions and career opportunities. In addition, its focus on creating and presenting innovative solutions and ideas are transferable skills that have broad appeal.
