Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mrs N. Schaar.
The Level 1 Soft Materials construction course is a hands-on practical course made up of unit standards, allowing students to achieve up to 20 credits - these credits are unit standards.
It continues to expand on the knowledge of sewing that began in middle school and starts with sewing machine maintenance, basic sewing techniques and simple pattern adaptation and completion of practical sewing projects such as bags, a leisure garment, or other items that students may want to sew.
Teaching and learning focus on using technological practices in the construction and design process, trialling of processes to gain the desired outcomes and analysing final outcomes to decide if they are fit for purpose and deciding what other strategies could be used in future to achieve the desired outcome.
