NCEA Level 3 Digital Technology - Web Design

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mrs M. O'Carroll.

NCEA Level 3 Digital Technology - Web Design is available through NetNZ.

Students will investigate and critique what is good web design and the implications they need to be aware of. They will follow a critical inquiry process to develop a digital media outcome(website) for their client from research, use of feedback, propose a design to their client, and then implement their website. The outcome will be a complex responsive website using HTML, CSS and Javascript where appropriate and a researched gallery, in conjunction with a database storing relevant information such as content or user interactions.

The client should be able to easily update the content of their website and view user interactions.  The relational database standard allows the development of a fully interactive solution for a business to better manage its interaction with end-users.

Topics covered include:

  • Research on considerations about what would make a good website design for a real client, thinking about the implications that need to be considered in its creation.
  • Develop a website that displays equally well on desktops and mobile(is responsive), uses a researched gallery layout and links to data stored in a database
  • Develop a database that allows users/customers to view and select items, and allows the client to see customers interactions and to easily modify and update website content.
