Course Description

Students will engage in planning, preparing and serving foods that demonstrate understanding of how foods influence well-being (Hauora). What influences our food choices and decision making around the foods we serve to our whānau and friends. Students will learn about strategies that promote health for themselves and the wider community. These topics make up to 20 credits of Achievement Standards, 2 internal and 2 external.
This course leads directly onto Level 2 Food and Nutrition (Home Economics) or can also lead to Level 2 Health Studies for those wanting to branch off into the Health field.
