NCEA Level 2 Fabrics (Soft Materials Technology)
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mrs N. Schaar.
The Level 2 Soft Materials construction course is a hands-on practical course made up of a mix of achievement standards and unit standards, totalling 16 credits.
It continues to expand on the basic knowledge and skills learned at Level 1 and increases the skill level to include such things as advanced sewing techniques and advanced pattern adaptation. Students can undertake a submission based external paper if they wish to aim for course endorsement.
Two major sewing projects are undertaken during the course of the year.
Recommended Prior Learning
Have successfully completed the Level 1 soft materials technology course.
OR
Students who have not completed Level 1 soft materials technology would need to have very good sewing skills to succeed in the Level 2 course.
