Level 2 National Certificate in Tourism is available through STAR through the New Zealand School of Tourism.
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the tourism industry with individuals who can support and enhance the visitor experience, and through their basic skills and knowledge recognise the importance of tourism to the country's economy.
This qualification has been specifically designed to provide a pre-entry induction qualification for people who are interested in entering the tourism industry in a range of basic positions and to provide a credential that will support their future employment opportunities to work, under supervision, across the different tourism career pathways. The qualification will benefit the community by enhancing the country's tourism visitor experiences and bringing economic benefits to the country.
Graduates will have basic knowledge, skills and personal attributes required as a base for further training in the tourism industry, or sufficient for entry level positions in the tourism industry. Holders of this qualification will be capable of operating at an entry level under general supervision.
Indigenous values of manaakitanga and whanaungatanga in relation to travel and tourism may be encompassed in the holistic outcomes of this qualification.
This course is 54 credits and can be taken over two years to complete the certificate. There are also Level 3 credits available.
